Providing Weapon Set to Nepal Police
Today 2078-03-21 Chief of Army Staff of Nepal Army Purna Chandra Thapa Provides 300 Weapons Set with ammunition and Related Accessories to the Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Kshetri during a function held at Jangi Adda Kathmandu.

On 2078-02-17 Government of Nepal, Council of Minister approved to provide Weapons to the Nepal Police for free of cost. Therefore, Today on 2078-03-21 Nepal Army Announced to provided altogether 10,818 Different types of Rifles, Sub Machine Gun and Light Machine Gun and 14,94,016 Ammunition for the Training, Security of VIP & VVIP Person, Office Security and For Mega Events.
An agreement paper was exchanged between Colonel Rajendra Mani Giri and Senior Superintendent of Police, Deepak Thapa at the event. The event was also attended by Lieutenant General of Army, Prabhu Ram Sharma and other high-ranking military officials.
The weapons provided to the police will be used for maintaining peace and security inside the country and to increase the capacity of the police force. Santosh Ballabh Poudel, spokesperson of the Army informed that the backup weapons were provided as per the government's decision in response to the request from police. Earlier on July 29, 2020, the army had provided 600 units of INSAS weapons to the police.
